Your Childs First Visit:

Your child’s first visit is usually scheduled at or around the age of three. Depending on the number of teeth present, and the ability to cooperate we will combine some of the following.

• Count the child’s teeth to make sure proper eruption pattern is taking place.
• Polish their teeth.
• Apply fluoride.
• X-rays if decay is suspected to be present.

It is important that you child’s first experience is a positive one, so we make every effort to make your child feel comfortable and in control.

 Pit and Fissure Sealants for Children

A dental sealant is a plastic- like material that helps block decay causing bacteria from lodging on the biting surfaces of your child’s back teeth. They are usually only applied to the permanent molars that appear at age 6 and 12.

They are placed by our hygienist usually at a special appointment time.

Sealants can last for many years, but occasionally we might need to replace them, or add a new layer.
